The first night Crystal & Ian met, Ian said to Crystal "tell me right now you're not going to marry me" she told him "I'm 99% sure I'm not going to marry you" and Ian replied "great, 1%" and now we're sharing their wedding video. We just ooze of butterflies from stories like theirs.
We hadn't even spoken to Crystal or Ian on the phone before meeting them on their wedding day. Ian hails from Malagash and Crystal from Montreal, and they reside in Brooklyn, New York. Connecting midst the hustle of wedding planning is hard to do, and last minute they decided to have us film their day. It's common for us to hear from clients who think of videography last in their planning, but when they receive their finished videos they tell us how they couldn't of imagined not capturing their day on video. We may be bias, but being able to relive the moments on one of the biggest days of your life is so special.
So, when we first met Ian, or even spoke to him for that matter, it was the morning of his wedding day. We stopped by Fox Harb'r Resort to catch him and his groomsmen skeet shooting. After introducing ourselves he said "I didn't even know you guys were coming to film skeet shooting, this is awesome" right then we knew the type of people we would be surrounded with for the remainder of the day, the calm, easy going, and fun kind of people. Let's do it!
Crystal and her girls + one bridesman were equally as relaxed, fun, and full of laughs. Upon meeting her in the hustle and bustle of hair and makeup she told us how she just wanted us to capture joy on everyone's face. It wasn't hard with this crew.
Their wedding took place seaside of the Northumberland Strait upon a cliff overlooking pristine blue salt water that seemed to never end. The seascape of the Creighton's family cottage was truly breathtaking. Chelsea Lee Flowers doused a homemade arbour that Crystal & Ian would be married under. The crisp October day brought family and friends of Crystal and Ian's as far as Europe. They were filled with joy, just the kind that Crystal was speaking of. Guests were sipping on hot apple cider garnished with cinnamon sticks, and nuzzled in fleece blankets that were made available to everyone.
We shared capturing the day with Candace Berry and her husband Dave. This was our second wedding working along side of them, and we were looking forward to it from the moment we found out they would be Crystal & Ian's photographers. Candace is a pro. While we were being formally trained in school to film, we would always joke about doing crazy things to get an amazing shot. "Do it for the shot" became an inside joke that we still live by to this day. Well friends, Candace Berry is the epitome of "do it for the shot" at one point we heard her say "and I'm going to climb that tree in a second" and there was another point where she asked one of us to hang onto her legs so she wouldn't fall off a chair while getting a shot of a tablescape. Life working along side of Candace Berry... it was awesome.
We can't say enough about Katelyn at Elegant Productions. She helped Crystal & Ian in planning their day. The way she executes a stylistic vision is beyond compare. Think wide wooden harvest tables, with Chelsea Lee florals lining the centre in greenery and hints of blush, surrounded by golden vintage cutlery and gold candle holders. We live in a five star bridal editorial every time Elegant Productions is around. Plus, Katelyns just a really awesome friend (but we'll save that for another post!)
We felt so lucky to be apart of a female dream team of entrepreneurs rocking the wedding world. Not only was it incredible to work along side Katelyn from Elegant Productions, and Candace Berry, we had the pleasure of filming the gorgeous work of Chelsea Lee Flowers. This talented lady is a machine, we think she's done florals for almost every wedding we've had the pleasure of capturing so far, and there isn't a single arrangement that hasn't taken our breath away. We also had the pleasure of working with Lauren Martin on her last wedding with Elegant Productions. This girl is a pro. She is calm, cool, and collective, and just the sweetest. She's now rocking her talents in Toronto but we really hope to cross paths with her again someday! Then there's make up artist Allison Kirby. We dream of a life where everyday we roll out of bed and Allison is there to put on a face for us. We often find ourselves answering the question "who did the makeup in that video?" She's just gives that bridal glow to her clients, we like to think it's magic, but nope, she's just that good! Jessica Fletcher-Marmont styled up the hair for Crystal & her girls, this is the second wedding we've been to where Jessica was at work, she's a pro, and such a talent.
